Three Week Adventure to Morocco!

Week One

Day One and Two (1/2) - Starting in Omaha, Nebraska and landing in Marrakesh, Morocco there is a 23 hour and 20 minute flight leaving at 09:30 on June 1 for $938.75. If travelers are trying to avoid the baggage claim fee, then they should pack a weeks worth of clothes in a backpack along with any toiletries and other essentials. This method works the best when the traveler either sleeps in that days clothes or has only one light weight pair of pajamas. In Denver, Colorado there is a 7 hour and 16 minute lay over. During this time travelers can easily entertain themselves for that long. If they are like me and sleep well on planes then the activities soon to be listed will be helpful. Otherwise travelers can sleep at this time. Denver international airport has many eateries, cafes, lounges, shops and seats to people watch. Along with these fast activities, this aiport also has year round entertainment centers for all ages. There are many crafts and coloring stations along with an area for travelers to learn the alphabet used by the military. Along with these hands on activities there is also year round art exibits and preformers to entertain travelers for hours. It would be advised to not spend more than $10 on food at this airport. After getting back on the plane there is another lay over lasting 1 hour in Frankfurt, Germany. This shorter layover lets travelers walk around and get a quick meal, for less than $10, before getting on the last flight to Marrakesh, Morocco and landing at 14:50 June 2.

Day Two (2/2) - After landing in Marrakesh at 14:50 there will be a cab from Gettransfer that will pick the traveler up at 16:00. This gives enough time for possible delays and/or airport crowds and confusion. The cab will then drop the traveler off at Waka Waka Hostel for about $10. Once here the traveler will need to check into the hostel and if needed this hostel has a currency exchange counter, but it is recommended that the traveler does this before the trip. The total cost of 2 nights in the dorm style hostel is $10.30. After checking in the time might be about 16:30. Within a 10 minute walk the traveler can visit Le Jardin Secret for $10.89, a 19th century Islamic palace with a surrounding garden. Assume the traveler spends about an 2 hours at this place, the time is now about 18:30 or dinner time. At a small stand named Shawarma Laksour, a 13 minute walk from the palace, the traveler can get a freshly made shawarma for $4.08. At this time the traveler can explore the many nearby shops for a couple of hours or go to the hosels pool, free of charge, that is less than a 5 minute walk from the hostel. At about 22:00 the traveler should be getting ready or already ready for bed.

Day Three - It would be best to wake up at about 06:30 and get some of the free breakfast the hostel has to offer. Then the traveler can take a shower and get ready for the day. For the first part of the day the traveler will go on a 10 hour journey to Ouzoud Falls for $27.54. There will be a van ready to pick the traveler up at the hostel at 08:00. It is about a 3 hour drive to the falls and then travelers get about 4 hours to roam around the area. There is a boat ride, cafes, trails and an area to swim in. A tour guide will be on the trip for anyone who has questions or does not know what to do. It is recomended to not spend more than $10 during this trip. At 18:00 the traveler will be dropped of at their place of pick up. At this time is is about time for dinner. Only a 7 minute walk away is the historically famous Jama El f’na Market. Here there are many vendors and preformers that can keep a traveler entertained for hours. Night time is very busy and active with both the merchants and customers of all kinds. It is recommended to not spend more than $50 at the market and to keep in mind any airport custom food policies so the traveler does not waste any money. After the traveler is done exploring the market they can go back to the hostel and get some good rest.

Day Four - In the morning, about 07:00, the traveler should eat the free breakfast at the hostel, shower, pack and check out of the hostel. After this the traveler walks for about 30 minutes to reach the train station at Avenue Hassan 11. This will be a $15, 6 hour train ride to Tiznit. The traveler will be in Tiznit at about 15:00 or 16:00 and it is recommended that the traveler packs a quick lunch to eat on the train. Once in Tiznit there is a 20 minute walk to get to the Hotel Belle Vue. After checking into the hostel, a total of $14 for two nights, then the traveler can explore the area. For dinner the traveler can eat at Restaurant La Nouvelle Ville, a small eatery that has meals, desserts and drinks. The average cost for a good meal at this location is about $3-$4, depending on how big on a meal the traveler wants. Within 10 minutes of the hostel there is shop, parks and a few mosques that the traveler can go explore until it is time for bed at around 22:00.

Day Five - In the morning the traveler has to get ready for the trip today. There are showers provided but the hostel does not provide breakfast. About a 6 minute walk away is a cafe called Cafe Europe that is open 24/7 and has cheap meals. It is recomended to not spend more than $5 for this meal. At about 08:30 a van will pick up the traveler at their hostel to go on a day trip to visit a beach in Agadir and roam the city of Tiznit with a tour guide. The travelers get to have a provided lunch with the locals at a fishermans house. At about 17:00 the van will drop the traveler off at their hostel. In the evening, travelers can visit a nearby market that is less than a 5 minute walk away from the hostel. It is recommended that the traveler does not spend more than $25 here. Whenever the traveler wants to have dinner there is a nearby eatery called Café Pizzeria REIAD EL salam and spend less than $5 here. Once the traveler has worn themselves out then they should get some rest back at the hostel.

Day Six - This morning the traveler needs to pack, shower and check out. The traveler should wake up early and go to one of the many different eateries near the hostel on their walk to the bus station. Since this bus ride to Agadir is almost 10 hours, at $22, the traveler should buy extra food to eat on the bus or quickly stop by a shop next to the train station at the 50 minute stop that is given. Once in Agadir it will be about 20:00. The traveler will have to walk about 20 minutes to La Porte Des Etoiles bed and breakfast and check in, for a total of $46. On the walk there is a McDonalds like place, called Snack La Baraka that the traveler can stop by for dinner. It is recomended to not spend more than $5 for this meal since the average meal is about $3.50. Once the traveler is setteled into their room then they could explore nearby, enjoy the common rooms and then go to bed.

Day Seven - The traveler should wake up at about 06:00 to get ready for the day and enjoy the free breakfast offered. At 08:00 a van will pick up the traveler to go on a Paradise Valley Excursion for $31. On this trip the traveler will be able to hike and swim in the paradise. Food is not included but there are cafes near the valley. It is recommended that the traveler spends no more than $5 for this meal. This excursion will end and drop the traveler back at the bed and breakfast at about 13:00. There is a few hours to spare during this time before the next activity. About a 7 minute walk away there is a garden and culture center that the traveler can spend a few hours, along with exploring the surrounding areas. At 18:00 another van will pick up the traveler and go on a sunset cammel ride with dinner and tea included for $27. By the end of the trip it will be about 20:00 when the van drops off the traveler at the bed and breakfast. It is recommended that the traveler gets extra rest tonight and goes to sleep early.

Week Two

Day Eight - This morning the traveler has probaly gone throught most to all of their clothes. At a 12 minute walk away there is a cheap wash house that opens at 08:00 and the traveler can wash their clothes for about $2. Another 10 minute walk away is the bus stop that will take the traveler to Essaouira. The bus leaves at 11:15 and arives at the station in Essaouira at 15:00 for $7. Once the traveler has arived, there is a 15 minute walk to Riad Loubana and check in for a total of $16 for two nights. Since it is early in the day, the traveler can go to a nearby beach named Plage d'Essaouira. Along the route the traveler can stop by Chez Ahmed for lunch. It is recommended to not spend more than $5 on this meal. The traveler may be here till about 20:00. Since the water is salt it is recommended that the traveler then goes back to the hostel and takes a shower to prevent skin irritation, then go to bed.

Day Nine - In the morning the traveler should wake up at about 08:00, take a shower and get ready for the day. There is a 20 minute walk to the building the first activity is at. On the way the traveler could stop for breakfast at Superbe Pastilla and spend less than $5 for a to go meal. The building called Essaouira Watersports kitesurf and surf school will be where the activity starts. For the surfing lessons equipment is included, along with a hot shower and some tea for $28.34. This two hour session starts at 10:00. When the tour is over it will be about lunch time and the traveler could go Miyame Restaurant after a 20 minute walk. The rest of the day will be historical site seeing. Some popular sites to see that are all within a 20 minute walk from the hostel are Moulay Hassan Square, City Walls, Bab Sabaa, Bab Doukkala, Gallery Kasbah, Sqala du Port along with others.

Day Ten - This morning the traveler has to wake up and get ready for the day by about 07:00. It is advised to get a pre packed meal while exploring the town the night before. At a bus station about a 10 minute walk away a bus will leave at 07:45 and go to Casablanca for $15. After this 6 hour ride it will be about 14:00 when the bus gets to its stop. Once the traveler gets to Casablanca it is advised to go check into the Casablanca Travelers guesthouse for two nights at $22. At this time the traveler should hurry to a square 2 miles away for an electric scooter tour of the city that starts at 15:30 for $28.70. While walking to the area the traveler should get a quick meal near the path. There are about 9 stops that the traveler will see and will get over at about 20:00. The traveler can get something to eat at near the square. Once this experience is over the traveler should head back to the guesthouse and get some rest.

Day Eleven -In the morning the traveler should get washed up, ready for the day and eat some breakfast At this time the traveler needs to go to a square 20 minutes away for the first activity that starts at 10:00. At the square the traveler will be in a local cooking class that lasts about 4.5 hours for $154.39. During this time the traveler will go shopping for ingredients, cook the recepie and eat it with a local mother of 2. For the rest of the day the traveler can go to the beach and relax in the sun. That evening they can get a quick bite to eat at Tunisiano. After this relaxing day the traveler should go back to the guest house and get some rest for the next day.

Day Twelve - This morning the traveler should get washed up and ready to go before checking out. It would be best that the traveler buys a pre packed meal at the market the day before for breakfast today. The traveler needs to walk 20 minutes away to catch a train that will leave for Rabat at 09:30 for $7. Once at Rabat, about 10:30, the next hostel is about a 20 minute walk away. Once checked into Auberge De Jeunesse the traveler can stop and visit Bab al Ahad, Andalusian Gardens, Oudayas, Kasbah of the Udayas and have lunch for under $5 near the shore. In the afternoon and evening the traveler can go to Rabat old market for dinner and some local shopping. It is recommended that the traveler does not spend more than $25. By this time it is night and the traveler should go to bed.

Day Thirteen - In the morning the traveler should get up and ready for the day. On the travelers way to a train station about a 30 minute walk from the hostel. Here the traveler will meet up with a family to go shopping and take a cooking lesson from a local. This event starts at 11:00, so on the walk over the traveler should grab some breakfast for less than $5. This cooking class will teach the traveler how to make a local three course meal and then eat what they have made. When this activity gets over it will be about 15:00. At this time the traveler should go relax at Hrida OCÉAN, and get something to eat near the shore before going back to the hostel for some rest.

Day Fourteen - This morning the traveler should wake up, get ready and go to the bus station with a pre packed meal for breakfast. The traveler needs to take a taxi to the bus station for about $10. The traveler should be on the bus and headed to Fes at 10:00 for $15. The 3 hour bus ride will have you to Fes at about 13:00. At this time a cab will pick up the traveler and take them to the Moroccan Dream Hostel for about $10. The two night stay here will cost $10. After this the traveler can walk to the nearby river and visit Place R'cif, Bab Sid L'Aouad and Bab Rcif before getting lunch and then heading back to the hostel to do some laundry for less than $5. Then the traveler should get dinner at a near by shop, then head back to the hostel and get some rest.

Week Three

Day Fifteen - In the morning the traveler should get ready for the day and have breakfast at the hostel cafe. Sometime in the morning, about a 16 minute walk away is the place where the traveler will meet up with a teacher to be in a ceramic and potery class. The traveler should grab some lunch on their walk to the studio. After the class the traveler can get a bit to eat at Palais La Médina. By 14:00 the traveler needs to have a cheap lunch of under $5 and walk about 20 minutes to a spa where the traveler will experience a Traditional Hammam spa experience. This treatment will have many different masks, oils and baths to help the traveler relax.

Day Sixteen - This morning the traveler needs to wake up, get ready and check out of the hostel. A cab will take the traveler to the bus station, for about $10, that they originally came to Fes at. The same bus will take them back to Rabat for $15, leave at 09:00 and arive at 12:00. The traveler will then directly get onto another train that will take them to Tangier for $8 and last about 3 hours. This will make the traveler arive at Tangier at about 16:00. A cab will then take the traveler to the Tangier Hostel, about $10 for 2 nights. Once the traveler is checked in they can get dinner at Hamadi for about $5. At this time the traveler can look at the nearby shops and then head back to the hostel for some rest.

Day Seventeen - In the morning the traveler can get some extra rest and enjoy the free breakfast the Hostel has to offer. At noon about a 10 minute walk away there is a double decker bus that will tour Tangier for two hours, $15 and stop at 9 areas for people to take pictures at. This tour gets over at about 14:00 and the traveler has the rest of the day to visit some landmarks. Tomb of Ibn Batouta, Grand Socco and the Kasbah Museum are all within a 10 minute walk from the hostel. There are many different eateries where the traveler can get lunch for under $5. There is also the Jardin de La Mendoubia that is nearby as well. After this site seeing the travler should get some dinner at the hostels resturant and then get some rest.

Day Eighteen - This morning the traveler needs to get ready, eat the free breakfast the hostel has and check out before getting in a cab to takw them back to the train station. The traveler will then ride for 2.5 hours with CMT at $15 and land back in Casablanca. Then the traveler will need to take a $15 cab to the next train station. This new train will cost $10 and take the traveler on an almost 3 hour ride back to Marrkesh. Landing in Marrkesh at about 16:30 the traveler will then have to walk for about 30 minutes to go back to the Waka Waka Hostel, at about $15 for 3 nights. For the evening the traveler can relax in the nearby pool and get some dinner at a nearby shop. Then the traveler should get some rest.

Day Ninteen - In the morning the traveler should get ready and enjoy the free breakfast the hostel has to offer. At 09:00 there will be a van that picks up the traveler for Desert Agafay and Atlas Mountains & Camel ride Day Trip. This 6 hour, $38.68 camel ride and hiking trip lets the traveler explore the land and eat a traditional meal with some of the locals. The tour will end and place the traveler back at the hostel at about 15:00. At this time the traveler can go to Musee Boucharouite during the afternoon. For lunch and some evening entertainment the traveler can walk 15 minutes to Medina of Marrakesh to go shopping. Then the traveler should go back to the hostel and get some rest.

Day Twenty - This morning the traveler shoul wake up and have some free breakfast before getting into the van that will take them to this days activity. This Atlas Mountains and Three Valleys & Waterfalls Day Trip will last 7 hours and cost $30.94. On this trip the traveler will go on a long camel ride near the falls and then eat some lunch with the locals. After this trip is over the traveler will be back at the hostel around 16:00. For the last evening before going back home, the traveler can walk about 10 minutes to Heritage Spa and spend about $50 to get whatever spa treatment they want. After this the traveler can grab some dinner at a nearby shop and then head back to the hostel for some rest.

Day Twenty-One - In the morning the traveler can get some rest before getting ready, eating breakfast and checking out of the hostel. A taxi will drive the traveler to the RAK airport and arrive at 12:00. Once the traveler is checked in then they can grab a bite to eat before getting on the plane and leaving for home. The first plane stop is in Frankfurt, Germany and will last about 15 hours. There are over 300 shops and eateries to keep a person busy during this time. However, since the layover is during the night many of them will be closed. This would be a great time to read a book, catch up on any phone apps the traveler has missed, watch something on their phone or get some sleep while they wait.

Day Twenty-Two - Before the traveler knows it is morning and about time to leave on the next flight. The traveler should get some breakfast and maybe a packed lunch for on the plane. The flight leaves at about 11:00 and lands in Denver, Colorado for a 2.5 hour layover. At this time the traveler should contact any family of friends that will be picking them up at the next airport. They should also get something to eat and stretch their legs before getting onto the next flight. The last flight will leave at 15:40 and touch down in Omaha, Nebraska at 18:19, marking the official end of this fantastic three week adventure.

Tips

Mosts to all meals should be less than $5 in Morocco and the traveler should pack 1 to 2 premade meals with them on all travel days that they can purchase at nearby stores.

Total Cost
